The test involves stealing two bells from Kakashi, who is a very skilled ninja, by noon the next day. He warns them that there are only two bells, meaning one of them will inevitably fail.

The team struggles to work together, as they are used to competing rather than cooperating. Naruto, in particular, is determined to prove himself and attacks Kakashi head-on, but is easily defeated. Sasuke tries a more strategic approach, but also fails to land a hit. Sakura is torn between trying to help her teammates and staying out of Kakashi's way.

As the deadline approaches, the team realizes that they need to work together to have any chance of passing. They come up with a plan to use Naruto as a decoy while Sasuke and Sakura try to steal the bells. The plan works, and they manage to get the bells, but Kakashi then reveals that the real test was about teamwork and selflessness. He explains that he had been watching them the whole time and was impressed by their willingness to sacrifice their own success for the good of the team.

In the end, all three of them pass the test, and Kakashi becomes their official sensei. They learn the importance of teamwork and the value of relying on each other.
