The first episode of Naruto (titled "Enter: Naruto Uzumaki!" in English) introduces viewers to the world of the Hidden Leaf Village and its mischievous protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki.

 


 

Plot Summary:

The episode opens with a flashback of the Nine-Tailed Fox (Kurama) attacking the Hidden Leaf Village. The village’s leader, the Fourth Hokage (Minato Namikaze), sacrifices his life to seal the powerful beast inside a newborn baby—Naruto Uzumaki.

Years later, Naruto is a troublemaking orphan who struggles for attention and respect from the villagers, who secretly despise him because of the demon fox inside him. Naruto constantly pulls pranks, like painting graffiti on the Hokage Monument, and struggles academically in the Ninja Academy.

One of his instructors, Iruka Umino, tries to discipline him but also understands Naruto’s loneliness. Meanwhile, another teacher, Mizuki, tricks Naruto into stealing the Forbidden Scroll from the Hokage’s residence. Mizuki later reveals the secret Naruto never knew—he is the vessel of the Nine-Tails, which is why the village shuns him.

Iruka, however, protects Naruto from Mizuki’s attack and acknowledges Naruto’s struggles. Enraged and determined to prove himself, Naruto surprises everyone by using the Shadow Clone Jutsu, a powerful technique he learned from the scroll. He creates hundreds of clones and defeats Mizuki.

In the end, Iruka recognizes Naruto’s growth and officially grants him the rank of Genin (beginner ninja), marking the start of his journey.
